The New York trip was a gift.
It was a belated 40th (sigh.) birthday present from my sister. I did the same for her last year with my mom and we had such a great time that she decided to reciprocate. Mom sat this one out (I think she is still tired from all the
dragging her around walking we did last year! 🙂 ), so it was just a sisters’ trip.
It was also a gift in that it was just the change of scenery, change of attitude, change of season, break that I needed. Desperately.
So, in honor of our trip, here is a recipe for a (Big) Apple Pie Martini! It tastes like a vanilla-y, pie-y version of the appletini everyone knows. I raise my glass and toast my sister for her generous birthday present and toast New York City for just being freaking awesome! (Cue Rihanna…) I’ll drink to that!
(Big) Apple Pie Martinis
4 fluid ounces vanilla vodka (I used Smirnoff)
2 fluid ounces apple Schnapps (I used DeKuyper Apple Pucker)
1 fluid ounce Buttershots butter-flavored liqueur (DeKuyper)
1 fluid ounce almond liqueur (Disaronna)
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon sugar
1/2 crushed graham cracker
2 cinnamon sticks, for garnish (optional)
1. Mix graham cracker, cinnamon and sugar together in a wide, shallow bowl.
2. Dip two chilled martini glasses into almond liquor then into cinnamon sugar mixture to coat rim of glass.
3. Combine vodka, apple Schnapps, Buttershots and almond liqueur in a shaker and add ice. Shake until very very cold.
4. Strain into prepared glasses and garnish with cinnamon sticks, if desired.
