Move over Schweppes!!
There’s a new (to me anyway) tonic in town!!
A very helpful sales guy at our nearby Total Wine suggested this tonic to D while he was picking up
cases a few bottles of wine. This was after he had steered D to a really great new vodka suggestion on a previous visit. So, obviously, he was to be trusted.
I was thinking tonic is tonic is tonic, no biggie. Wrong. This stuff is great. So smooth, not super sweet, totally amazing.
I went on Q Tonic’s website and found out a few tidbits of info: It is all-natural and is low in calories due to the fact that it has no high-fructose corn syrup in it, unlike other tonics. (I didn’t even know tonic had corn syrup in it!) It is sweetened with organic agave instead. They also make club soda and ginger ale – which I bet is amazing! Must find that…
I give you their recipe for a Vodka Tonic, which is how I will, no doubt, be ending my week.
The Perfect Vodka Tonic
Fill your best highball glass with ice
Add 2 oz of your favorite vodka
Squeeze a wedge of lime.
Top with 4 oz chilled Q Tonic
Serve with the remainder of the Q Tonic bottle
Scout this out (it seems to be pretty widely available at Whole Foods and Williams-Sonoma) and try it with your favorite vodka or gin. You will not be disappointed!
