No roses here. Just a dozen pineapples that are getting all ready for summer harvesting!
See them? Sprouting up in our garden…
I have to thank my sister for our bounty – she is the one who told me years ago that you could plant the cut-off tops of pineapples and they will grow into new plants that bear fruit. I had no idea this was possible and it is ridiculously easy! There are lots of instruction sites online but, thanks to living in the tropics, we just cut the tops off about an inch below the leafy part and pop them into the ground. Voila!
We get fruit once a year, but it’s really fun to say that you grow your own pineapples!
Now I need to figure out what to make with my crop! Besides the usual pina coladas, that is. 🙂 Any recommendations?
