I hate a Monday, but love a monogram so I’ve decided to start a feature called “Monogram Monday” here at That Pink House.
I have an unusual name (which I love, BTW). But, growing up surrounded by Kimberlys and Jennifers, this meant that my name was never one of the choices on the pre-printed pencil, mini-license plate, key chain, etc. assortments at gift shops. I would turn the little free-standing display in anticipation only to find “Karen, Karla, Kate.” Never my name. Never ever.
I directly attribute my love and desire for all things monogrammed to these early disappointments.
I look for opportunities to monogram things or buy “K” embellished items to compensate.
And what are children for if not to pass on your neuroses? Miss F and Miss E will never find their names amid the “popular” names at the gift shop, but at least they will sleep with these hanging above their beds:
Miss E’s monogram
These wooden wall hangings are from an Etsy shop turned website called Southern Nest. It was love at first sight. And I love that this is a start-up company staffed by real people, who send you apologetic emails (and a discount!) when your order is delayed. Thanks, Courtney!

Swoon. I’m thinking about getting a small monogram of my initials to hang in my closet. And I think I need to repaint the girls’ room.
