So this isn’t really a cocktail, but more of an experiment.
Imagine what would happen if your polite little gummy bears in the candy jar raided your liquor cabinet… Rummy Gummies!
I saw this on Serious Eats and was immediately smitten. Drunken candy? Sign me up! 🙂
They have some interesting combos, but I decided to just test the waters so I went with a fruit salad and white rum.
Basically, you just put gummy bears (or other gummy creatures) into a container. (I used a shallow plastic storage container.) Cover with the rum, or alcohol, of your choice and let sit for a couple of hours. Drain well, and refrigerate until ready to eat.
What I learned from reading others’ comments:
1. Oddly, Haribo Gummy Bears are liquor-resistant. Who knew? Something about them being too hard. These were my first victims and I left them on the counter for about four hours where they “melted’ in the booze. (The rum concoction left behind was pretty tasty though…)
2. The second, successful batch was made with store-brand (Publix) gummies and soaked in the refrigerator for four hours.
You can definitely taste the rum, but not sure how potent they really are. Fun idea and it might be interesting to keep experimenting…
