Back from Texas and I had such a great time!
Round Top was great and while my sister bowed out, Mom and I were joined by one of my high school friends and her mother. Such fun!
I can’t begin to explain the Round Top Antique scene… this small town between Houston and Austin swells from its double-digit (91 residents as of 2011) population to the tens of thousands over a four-day weekend twice a year. Everywhere you look is packed with booths, cars and people. Had I been more astute, I would have taken some pictures,. But, you really can’t get the magnitude of it from a picture.
We started out in Warrenton, ate a yummy lunch at Royer’s Cafe at Zapp Hall (Grilled Shrimp BLT without the B), and shopped. We moved on to Marburger Farm where things are a little more upscale, a little more staged, but so beautiful. Tent after tent of amazing goods. I was on the lookout for a bench for my entry, but it was not meant to be. Don’t be sad though. I did not leave empty-handed, or rather, empty-wristed…
I found a vendor who uses antique sterling silver pieces (trays, vanity sets, desk sets, etc.) and repurposes them into cuff bracelets. I picked one up to try it on, looked down saw a “B” and asked Mom what she thought. As I was waiting for the artist/vendor to finish with another customer, I looked closer, turned it upside down and realized the monogram was an “EF”
Coincidence? Fate? Whatever it was, I now have a little reminder of my misses with me on my wrist. 🙂 I love it. I love that it is vintage, repurposed, unique and, now, all mine!
(If they had also had a K, I would have had to rob a bank…)
But here’s the bad part. I didn’t pick up a business card because I assumed the name, address, etc. would be on the receipt. Nope. I have the Marburger Farm map with vendors names, but can’t figure out which booth I bought it in. ARGH. If anyone familiar with this vendor, please let me know!! I would love to give him the credit due.
You’re sooooooooooo cool!!
I was going to say something about how NOT cool you were that day, but I decided not to. 🙂 hee hee
[…] I love a big, chunky bracelet. I especially love a monogrammed one! […]
